STRONG winds and torrential downpours failed to dampen the spirits of a Ribble Valley vicar who tackled one of the toughest races in Europe.
Keen runner, the Rev. Eric Kyte
(43), completed the Snowdonia Marathon on Sunday in four hours and 55 minutes. Despite a leg injury, the vicar of Gis-
bum and Hellifield braved gale-force winds to conquer the highest moun tains in Wales during the demanding
and spectacular route. Commenting on the challenge, he said: “Although the weather was really bad and I was not able to prepare for the race because of an injury to my left leg, I completed it in good time. I love running and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Snowdon. I really enjoyed myself when
tackling the challenge and the atmos phere was fantastic with crowds of spectators cheering us on.” The kind-hearted cleric has raised
£300 for the centenary fund at Helli- field’s St Aidan’s Church, for improve ments including updating the build
ing. Hundreds of-reductions in all departments Autumn Specials many with delivery in time for Christmas!
