. Sports pitch hope for centre
CRIME prevention bosses in Ribble Valley have called a pub lic mooting about a proposed all- weather sports pitch in the centre of Clitheroe. The Ribble Valley Crime and
Disorder Prevention Partnership wants to site the pitch at the St Michael and St John’s playing field, in Lowergate. The meeting has been called so
that residents and interested par ties can have their say on the matter. ■ Ribble Valley Borough Coun
cil’s policy development officer, Mr Bill Alker, said: “The part nership has identified a lack of
informal recreational facilities in the town and St Michael and St John’s seems a logical location for the proposed pitch.” Established in 1998, the Rib
ble Valley Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership is spear headed by Ribble Valley Bor ough Council. Its members include the police,
probation service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, schools and health professionals. The public meeting takes place
on Tuesday, February 17th, at 7 p.m., in St Michael and St John’s School Hall, Lowergate. Every one is welcome.
