visit the parish church, the ramblers made their way to Westy Bank Wood and, after a 200-metre climb, reached Middle Hare Head. During lunch, taken on


the moor, fine views of the 15th Century Barden Tower and across to Ilkley Moor added to the enjoy­ ment of the break. The group then


descended to the beautiful village of Halton East, where keen interest was taken in the listed build­ ings and the well laid out gardens. Before

Draughton on the south side of the A59, the ram­ blers stopped to take pho-


tographs of a passing steam train on its return journey to Embsay. Following a short break,


several moorland tracks were taken before reaching Haw Pike Farm. On their return to


Bolton Abbey Station, via Bolton Bridge, the group enjoyed a well-earned rest in the delightful tea rooms. The ramblers, above, are
