me quite a lot.” The team, its guides and porters travelled


through Masai game reserves and camped at the foot of Mount Suswa, a dormant volcano. They climbed to the summit the next day,


then spent three days hiking along the Rift Valley plains via the Hell’s Gate Gorge, an area of spectacular cliffs, hot springs and gey­


sers. Along the way, Anna saw giraffe, waterbuck


and gazelle, plus the Masai herds of cattle and


goats. The group then climbed to the crater rim of


Mount Longonot, which the group continued to follow.
