A GROUP of 27 ramblers enjoyed a five-mile walk in the south-west' comer of the Ribble Valley. . The walkers, led by Bryan
Dobson, started from Lovely Hall Lane, Salesbury, in bright spring time weather and continued into Clayton-le-Dale. . A short stop was made near
Showley Brook. in order, to pin point the course of a Roman road which ran from an encampment on Mellor Moor to Ribchester. ■Y From the dale, the walkers con tinued in a westerly direction onto the lower slopes of Mellor Moor,; from where outstanding views of Bleasdale, Bowland and Lon- gridge fells could be seen.-..
■ After carefully crossing the A59 they arrived in Osbaldeston, and after travelling north via Robert House Farm th ey took in the
< splendour of the historic stone building of Oxendale Hall, built in 1656
by.Lawrence Osbaldeston. After a re s t in the secluded
Mire Wood, which was coming to life with the new green leaves of the bluebells, the walkers proceed ed to Mire Fold and, after again
.crossing th e A59, continued towards Harwood. Fold on their return to Salesbury. ■ The walk next Wednesday will
