WHALLEY was a commu­ nity in fear this week as the town was found to be at the centre of as dastardly a case of pignapping as there has ever been. Mystery surrounded the


whereabouts of the tiny pink creature which disappeared shortly after a group of 42 lusty Whalley sportsmen had visited Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, Bilsborrow, near Garstang for their annual sporting charity fun day. Whalley was full of whis­

African eye-care project benefits


A PLANT stall held at the United Reformed Church, Clitheroe, and organised by the Rotary Club of Ribblesdale, raised a total of £524 for Sight Savers International. This long-standing Rotary charity, works in


more than 25 countries to prevent blindness, restore sight and provide support to blind adults and children. .
