MUM'S the word as we unveil our latest "Heart of the Valley" award win ner. The Meads Jaguar of

Blackburn-sponsored Unsung Hero category to find the man or woman judged to have worked most selflessly for the good of our community was over-sub scribed with worthy candi dates. Yet, a t our star-studded

"Heart of the Valley Gala Evening" in just over a week's time, it will be collected by

Cub Scout leader Mr Dale Higham, of Moorland Cres cent, Clitheroe. Mr Higham, a toolmaker,

has quietly and unassumingly devoted the last 23 years to working with local youngsters through the Scouting move ment. During this time, he has earned the respect and appreciation of many local mothers. It was a mother who nomi

nated him for the award and, having read of this nomina tion, it was the letters of sup port from other mothers which elevated Mr Higham above his category peers.
