weekend, hundreds of residents, young and old, took to the streets to celebrate the Queen's 50th anniversary, yrith parties going on into the early hours, children's sports, buggy racing, fetes, hog roasts, a donkey derby and even a medieval fair, j Villages were bedecked with red, white and blue
flags and bunting. There was a real sense of com munity spirit and national pride as people prepared picnics, barbecues, loaned gazeboSjand tents — all in a bid to ensure that everyone remembered the Queen's Golden Jubilee was celebrated in style throughout the Ribble Valley. Many of the villages had spent months before the
Jubilee holding fund-raising events in a bid to defray the cost of the special activities planned. On the day,
it was all more than worthwhile. • On these three pages we carry more pictures of the Valley's Jubilee celebrations.
