- Yorkshire and Cumbria, with anannual turnover of £150 million. According to Wine
Magazine, organisers of the prestigious competi tion: "If you had to
choose one word to sum marise Booths, it would be quality. Whether it he the deli-counter or the approach to retailing, Booths is an impressive set up and does not do things by halves." Chairman of Booths,
Mr Edwin Booth, com mented: "For a family company such as Booths to win the top Wine Oscar is wonderful. I t is also a great compliment to our wine buyer, Sally Holloway, and her wine advisers in our stores, who give her immediate customer feedback on her wines. This award recognises the exciting va rie ty of wines we offer."
Studying has paid off
THREE years of studying have paid off for Mark Yates, deputy cement manager at Castle
Cement's Ribblesdale works. Mr Yates has achieved his Master of Business
Administration, via Hull University. He enrolled for his studies in 1999 and com
pleted his MBA this summer, spending one day a week at Blackburn College and up to 15 hours a week studying at home. . Out of touch with the academic world since
completing his engineering studies as an appren tice nine years ago, he says that studying came as quite a shock to the system.
Mr Yates lives in Rishton with his wife, Les ley, and their three young children.
