day. . ■ The ancient church, filled to
capacity, was beautifully dec orated with fruit, flowers and vegetables. The school chil dren sang a harvest song and brought their gifts to be blessed. Canon Graham Walker led
the service and spoke about the staple foods of the world. A harvest lunch and sale in
the village hall followed, with all proceeds going to the char

Harvest Nearly 100 people attended
a harvest lunch in St Nicholas's Church Hall on Sunday following adiarvest service in the chapel next door. The effort was such a success
'that £415 was raised for the church roof fund.' The next fund-raising event
is a concert, "Fairest Isle" by the Linden Sing;ers, on Satur day night. Entry is £5, which includes wine and shortbread at the interval. Tickets are available from Mr and Mrs Keith Newmark. A gift day will be held on
Saturday, October 26th, when the churchwardens will be at church to receive donations from 10 a.m. to noon. On Friday, November 1st,

Car boot A car boot sale was held to
raise money for Sabden's Heart of Lancashire Appeal to provide a defibrillator and training for people to use it, in the event of someone suffering a heart attack. Fund-raisers set up stall at a boot sale in Barrow last Sunday and raised £301.47. They now plan to hold another on October 20th and are appealing for more items to sell.
