Best-kept award for Valley almshouses
THE warden of Waddington Hospital. Almshouses is delighted that it won a "best
kept" award. In this year's Lancashire Best Kept Village
competition, the building won the certificate of merit in the "any other special feature" class.
Mrs Lesley Haywood said she was pleased ,
with the result. A team of residents, supported by a gar
dener and handyman, is responsible for look ing after the gardens and main entrance, making them attractive for visitors. The properties themselves are maintained by Richard Pallister. . The team's hard work caught the eye of the
competition's judges. An award ceremony will take place in West Bradford on October 26th when Harrop Fold will also receive its prize for winning the Best Kept Hamlet class.
