GET ready to rock on down to the Mechanics next week when Eric Bell, of the legendary '70s band Thin Lizzy, per forms a unique tribute to the group's early successes. Formed in Ireland by Phil Lynott and Brian Downey, Bell joined in 1969, just a year before the band was signed by Decca. Famous for such hits as " Whisky in the Jar" and "Boys are back in town", the trio's first album-was released in 1971. Although the group was essentially a rock band, frontman Phil Lynott's lyrical imagery gave a gentleness to their songs, and their music often reflected folk and blues influences. Since Eric Bell left the band in 1974 he has worked with several jazz and rock musi cians and formed a band with Andy Gold en and Tony Williams, who now bring the early years of Thin Lizzy to life around the country. Anyone with a taste for rock

diversity of this band. Tickets cost £8 in advance and those
