Cultural attache launches Asian arts festival
A FASCINATING talk on Asian cul ture in Britain was given by a cultural attache to an audience a t the Plat form Gallery to launch the Ribble Valley's first ever Asian arts festival. Mela Magic is a two-week event in

events will be taking place as part of the festival around the Ribble Valley, including, dance, music and art work

in the Islamic Holy book. After the meeting. Dr Shakoor spoke
of the importance of the Mela. He said: "It's a celebration Of the Asian commu nity living in the Ribble Valley since tlic '50s. With the Millennium coming next year, it is a timely reminder of what Asian people have acliicved witliin our society.
