THE Lancashire award winning Ribble Valley Red Cross Centre, based in Back King Street, Clitheroe, provides a vari ety of services within the Ribble Valley. Since the formation of the
centre in April 1994, Red Cross personnel have trained
people in first aid techniques. Courses ranging from standard first aid to life saving cover a

wide range of fust aid skills. Many people who have received this vital training have com
mented on how it has given them the skill and confidence to deal with any emergency. First aid courses may be tailored to suit the requirements of different organisations or groups. If your organisation is holding an event which requires fust
aid cover, you should consider using the Red Cross. The centre has a dedicated team of fully- qualified first aiders. Anything from village fetes to mountain bike races can be covered. The British Red Cross also provides first aid training for com
things you could do for Red Cross Week. You could deliver collecting trays to shops and businesses, take part in, or even organise, a fund-raising event; or send out thank you notes to supporters. There is lots to be done, and they all help to raise funds during Red Cross Week. You can help - by making a
donation It is easy to make a dona
tion. You can send a cheque or postal order to the British Red Cross at the address given on this page. But there are other ways you can give - gift aid covenants, give as you earn - and the local branch has all the details. And you can look out for
panies through the First Aid at Work course, which meets the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act. These courses may be run at the centre in Clitheroe. Any company who would like to know more, should contact the Lancashire Branch headquarters at Preston, tel. 01772 716600. At the Red Cross Centre, between 10 a.m. and noon on

Tuesday and Saturday mornings, residents and visitors to Clitheroe can chat and meet friends over a cup of tea or coffee. This service is provided with volunteer helpers from the Church es Together in Clitheroe and District organisation. The centre can also loan medical aids which you or a relative
may require. Examples include wheelchairs, commodes and frames. The loan of such equipment is usually for people who have just come out of hospital or are incapacitated in some way. Whatever your need, the Red Cross can usually provide some equipment that will make life easier during a period of difficulty. Other activities include an international messages and tracing service for relatives of loved ones who have been lost as a result
of war or natural disaster. Red Cross personnel all over the world help reunite people
every week. As a direct result of our work in this field, local Red Cross members have, in recent years, helped trace two local peo ple who have had relatives abroad looking for them. From September, the British Red Cross in Lancashire is to
