Christmas is a very special time of year. The prospect o f ; my children’s eyes full of wonder on Christmas Day is an- enticing thought. School nativity’s and Carol Services help to set the mood as we rehearse once more the familiar story of Bethlehem’s stable. I t is a time of the year that is distinct, that is special and life would be the poorer with-

There is though a danger that we forget the reasoning behind our celebrations. Christmas is a Christian celebra tion. The presents we give to each other should remind us ; that is is at this time of year that we celebrate God s great gift to humanity, the Lord Jesus Christ. I t is a time when , we should meditate on the idea of Immanuel, God-with-.; us. That Jesus came to fulfil numerous.Old testament prophecies, to show people God’s new way of love, to per-, sonify God’s great love for. the whole of humanity. The

same Christ who even today is calling to people to turn , away from the falsehood of the world and seek the reali-- ty of God. The child of the., stable’ still active in the midst of life-today, guiding;; those-who place their, trust
