nium is the task Sarah Robin son has set herself and-she is hoping that community spirit will help to guide her. Sarah, of Richmond Terrace, Clitheroe, is currently scouring the archives for facts and photographs of Clitheroe from 1900 onwards. Her aim is to discover the impact that events such as the First and Second World Wars, the dawn of the swinging ’60s, and the rise and fall of various national and inter national political leaders have had on aspects of town life. I want the book to have real Clitheroe character and to do that I would like Clitheroe people to help me to discover the men and women who have shaped the town this century.” Sarah came to Clitheroe aged 16,

In the fulness of time, when we even tually live in a home of our own and embark on the rough seas of matri mony, most of us find out that the chap who composed the jingle about needles and pins knew what he was writing about. “Needles and pins — when you get married your trouble begins.” We discover that we have new cares, new problems, new anxi eties, from mortgage interest rates, sleepless nights and inflation to pos sible redundancy.
