A NELSON family business which enjoys worldwide fame and respect for its quality


products and se rv ice is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Wilkinson’s Hi-Fi has been the town’s top shop for sound systems and television for more than two decades. It first opened its doors in Netherfield Road, Nelson, in 1971, when Mr Gordon Wilkinson decided to turn his radio repairing


hobby into a career. By 1977, business was booming and the shop expanded into the premises next door. In 1984, Wilkinson's HiFi moved across the town centre to its current premises in Manchester Road, and within five years the shop


expanded into the premises next door, where it still thrives today. During that time there have been many changes, from the old valve radios and radiograms to the latest micro-electronics controlling television sets, video recorders and hi-fi equipment.
