aerials and about six American satellites you can now accurately map out the cultivated area o f the whole o f your farm - or any other area for that matter.
You can produce a map showing ditches, drains, gates - even clumps o f nettles i f you wish to whatever scale you like - from wall charts down to A4 size plans. W e can also keep a computer copy on disc so it can be up-dated and changed at any time very cheaply.
What do you want to know the exact area for? Well it could save you a lot o f money for starters. Instead o f using old O.S. maps where Held boundaries may have disappeared a long time ago, you can calculate the exact area to be fanned - minus hedges, ditches, ponds and other obstacles.
You may find that your “sixteen acre" field should really be called your “fourteen point four eight acre" field.
W e have tested the equipment over approximately 1000 acres here in Lancashire and in general terms, the cultivated area is about 10% less than the Ordnance ~

spending too much money on contractors charges, seed and fertiliser, sprays etc. On average, you could make savings o f 10% per year on all these costs - and the environment will benefit from less sprays being used.
