SWIMMERS from Clitheroe Dolphins scored a double success last week with a win for the Micro League Swim Squad and an outstanding personal performance from their coach. Despite the upheaval of

recent weeks — which has included a six-week closure of Edisford pool the team managed to

qualify for the West Lan cashire Consolation final. Against some strong

opposition, all the hard work that has been put in by swimmers and coaches paid off and the team ended up celebrating a fan tastic win. Coach Chris Goddard

continued the success with a haul of eight medals in the recent National Fire Brigade Swimming Cham pionships. Chris won three individ

ual golds and three indi vidual silvers. He then joined up with

the Greater Manchester Fire Brigade freestyle relay team for another gold, and their medley relay team for another sil ver. He recorded personal best

times in his 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle and was named “man-of-the- match” - a thoroughly deserved award. In the North-West Lan

cashire Consolation Final the Micro League team finished first with 187 points from second-placed Great Harwood with 148 points. There were 17 first-place wins in both individual swims and relay events. They were recorded by:

Nicole Dry, Lucy Wolsten- holme, Graham Slinger, Michael Rhodes, Eliza beth Mallinson, Gemma Seed, Siobhan Wrigley, Katie Bolton, Mark Leem- ing, Timothy Smith, Denis Craven, Thomas Craven, Kirsty Parkinson, Lizzie Wiggin, Anna Griffiths, Jack English, Mark Hitchen.Paul Jaggs, Toby Banfield, Katie Jones, Emma Salisbury, Holly Windle, Jenny Bond, Rachel Walker, Hannah Moody, Rebecca Cawther- ley, Edward Andrews, Philip Hitchen and James Kirk. Personal best times were

recorded by Elizabeth Mallinson, Anna Griffiths, Emma Salisbury (two), Janny Bond, Rachael Walker, Susan Brass, Gra ham Slinger, Jack English, Edward Andrews, Paul Jaggs (two), James Kirk, Timothy Smith, Philip Hitchen. Excellent team swims by Charlotte Ross, Sarah Wiggin, Susan Brass, Nicola Millard, Thomas Pawson, Daniel Green, Robert Brass and John Forrester. Our picture shows some of

the successful swimmers from the Micro League Swim Squad and coach Chris Goddard (top left). , (CAT3067)
