group in the area. Mrs Rebecca Mullins suffered a miscarriage
A SAD bereavement has prompted a Clitheroe woman to aim to set up a help
recently and claimed she was offered no counsel ling whatsoever from Queen’s Park Hospital in Blackburn, where she was taken. “It was ridiculous,” she said. “I was put on a
ward with other patients who were having termi nations; I felt dreadful and I want to put pressure on the hospital to make sure that the new gynae cology unit is planned better, so that those people who have suffered a miscarriage are not delibera tely put into contact with mothers with new babies and patients who are in for termination.” Mrs Mullins found that she got help from the
local health visitors, but added th a t what is needed is a local body of people who can give advice and information to anyone in the locality who needs it. The nearest help and support group is in Pres ton, which is no good to people around Clitheroe,
she added. “If we can get a group going and got leaflets etc.
Queen’s Park is for those who miscarry after the 20th week, who are put ill touch with a social worker. If you lose-a baby before the 20th week, you are expected to get over it by yourself. Mrs Mullins and her friend, Mrs Janet Matliie-
