The postholder wilt attend markets and issue animat move ment licences and enforce regulations under the Animal Health Act 1981 and other Acts concerning the welfare and protection of animals in market and in transit.
The duties of the post will include attendance at livestock
markets or sates for the purpose of issuing movement licences for pigs, sheep and other animals and inspecting vehicles at markets used for transporting animals, supervisory work in connection with the Animal Health Act and duties under Criminal Justice Acts and other Acts concerning the Welfare and Protection of Animals.
The post carries a Casual User Car classification and a cur rent driving licence is essential.
Applicants must have a knowledge of agricultural matters and problems associated with the keeping and marketing of live stock and an awareness of the regulations relating to Animal Health and Welfare. Candidates appointed must not own or keep or be in charge of any cattle, sheep, pigs, goats or any other animals affected by Notifiable Diseases.
