An end of season celebration


A CRICKET club pulled up the stumps on its first


season with a dinner dance. The Hodder Valley


Cricket Club, formed last winter, presented awards to its best batsman and best bowler — a father and son. The team skipper Keith

Maher took the batting award and Patrick step­ ped up for the bowlers trophy. The team, which draws


its players from the parishes of Slaidburn. N e w ton. E a s i n g t o n. Whitewell and Dunsop Bridge played a series of friendlies during the summer on the Duck Mire Field, loaned by Mr Henrv Carr.
