Valley Appeal for the Help the Aged Association 14 sacks of clothing and bed- ding were collected in Chatburn. The Rev. Ward Jones organised the collec tion, assisted by some of the lady members of the chapel. The Methodist Schoolroom was the col lecting centre.

Non-stop Members 'o f Downham
Youth Club held a spon sored non-stop table tennis game from 4-30 p:m. on Friday to 4-30 p.m. the following day. -. Mark and Terry Brath- waite, Graham Kenyon, / Steven Knowles, Graeme Robinson, Aidan Roney and Christopher Swar-' brick along with leader Mr G. Braithwaite completed: the task of keeping the ball in play , for the whole 24 hours.

Looking ahead Enough funds are now
available for the senior citizens party, an annual event much looked for ward to by the elderly of Downham. Their next planned event is on Satur day, when they hope the weather will be kind enough for another coffee morning and car wash- from 9-30 a.m. to 12-30.

8-16 age group danced to the Ben Worsley Road Show at St John’s School on Saturday night. Organ ised by the Scout and Guide Parents Committee the event raised £42, for group funds.

raised on Saturday by the Scout and Guide Parents’ Committee by the monthly waste paper collection at St John’s School.
