Festival of


NEARLY 2,000 people crowded on to Clitheroe. Castle field on Saturday for the final day’s prog­ ramme in the Ribble Val­ ley Festival of Sport.


Glorious weather brought


out the crowds for all kinds of competition, fromr soccer to “It’s a knock-out” and dogs to tug o’ war, as the fortnight- long festival reached its finale. This was the valley’s thi rd such festival and undoubtedly its most sue-’ cessful.


Saturday’s events, there was a plethora of entertainments, including a fair, a display by the King’s Division recruiting team' (complete with tram­ poline), and a mini-market of stalls run by several local organisations. Centrepiece of the day was
