Modulift Spreader Beams Perform Record Load Test In Germany
A 1000t Moduliſt spreader beam was recently used to conduct an extreme load test in Germany. During the test, two cranes liſted a combined 1,125 tonnes — exceeding the beam’s 1000t rating to validate its integrity and performance under proof-load conditions.
The MOD 800J/1000 spreader beam, supplied by LGH Europe was selected specifically for its liſting capacity and ability to distribute loads across liſting points, providing controlled force transfer to each crane throughout the liſt. LGH supplies the MOD spreader beam range from MOD 6 through to MOD 800J/1000 for sales and rental, supporting liſting across construction, renewables and offshore sectors.
Load testing is an essential procedure to verify liſting equipment performance. Testing cranes and hoists at or above their rated capacities allows any potential weaknesses to be identified before operational use, reducing risk to personnel and equipment.
Andrew Charlesworth, Group Sales Director at Moduliſt, said: “Our modular spreader beams are designed to support some of the heaviest liſts safely and reliably. This test in Germany shows how our 1000t spreader beam can handle huge capacities.”
Our spreader beams are specially designed to provide a lightweight solution so that cranes can work at maximum capacity. All products within the Moduliſt spreader beam range are compliant with ASME, BSI, and DNV standards. Capacities range from 6 – 5000t. They can be reused without the need to retest or recertify, even when dismantled and reconfigured elsewhere.
Antonia Price, Head of Marketing Europe at LGH GMBH added: “Using the MOD 1000t spreader beam allowed our customer to conduct the load test efficiently and safely. Its modular design and strength make it a reliable choice for certifying cranes and other heavy liſting equipment.”
