Gusto Italian Edinburgh Reopens after £250k Makeover
Gusto Italian on Edinburgh’s George Street has unveiled its stunning redesign and welcomed its first guests to enjoy its new dining experience, after the company invested £250k to transform the interior and exterior of the much-loved premium casual dining restaurant.
The George Street favourite, which originally opened in 2007, welcomed guests back on 2nd August after a 3-week closure. The renovation has already impressed locals, reopening with a new design and new offerings, including the Theatre Kitchen and Pizza Experience as well as a 60-seat upstairs mezzanine and a 12-person semi-private dining room, both of which are available for private hire.
The refurbished restaurant and bar will no doubt be a huge hit with both existing Gusto Italian customers and new diners alike, particularly with its new immersive and unique dining experience created by the Theatre Kitchen.
The new Pizza Experience, which can be booked for 6-10 people, includes 4 Italian courses, hands-on pizza making, fizz on arrival, and piping cannolis. Now open, locals will be able to take their seats at the new pizza chef’s table for a fun-filled two-hour experience, delivering the ultimate special occasion for diners in Edinburgh.

To celebrate its brand-new experience, Gusto Italian marked the occasion with a secret Pizza Experience ahead of the opening, at Princes Street Gardens, offering 6 lucky locals a first look at the experience, with Edinburgh Castle providing the backdrop. The guests learnt first-hand the art of pizza making, and all about the finest Italian ingredients used to make Gusto Italian’s sourdough pizzas and trademark dough petals.
Matt Snell, Chief Executive Officer, said “We can’t wait for the people of Edinburgh to try The Gusto Pizza Experience, and for everyone to see the striking redesign of this much-loved restaurant. It’s been a long time coming and I was blown away when I saw the finished makeover. It’s so rewarding to hear such amazing feedback from guests on the opening night, I’m confident the George Street venue will remain a favourite for Edinburgh diners for years to come.”
Along with the stunning interior and exterior refurbishment, Gusto Italian Edinburgh has also reopened with an extended offering, serving both brunch and ‘brunch with bubbles’, with dishes ranging from classic full breakfasts to smashed avocado on toast. Brunch with Bubbles gives guests the opportunity to have up to 6 glasses of Prosecco or 6 brunch cocktails with any brunch dish for £35pp.
