this magical occasion. She found herself crafting for more baby showers, local sports club events, business celebrations, birthdays and, most specially, her older sister’s beautiful wedding. All wanted Charlie’s imaginative and professional concepts, always executed to her exacting standards.


“With the displays and biscuits, I want the element of ‘delight’ and I always do dry runs for anything new I’m attempting. I really enjoy experimenting, iterating and perfecting.” It’s clear that she really cares about the people she is doing this for and puts herself under her own pressure to excel and exceed expectations.


The biscuits became her piece de resistance. Packaged individually or as boxed sets, as her skills grew they became more elaborate and visually exciting. Her simple shortbread base can be cut into almost any shape designed for any occasion and hand decorated to match the theme. Hen weekends, birthday gifts,


Mother’s Day, Valentines, Easter, wedding favours, teacher’s thank-yous … you name it there’s a novelty yet edible biscuit for it. Yes, Charlie now charges a little for her materials and time, and she is getting postal orders and even has ranges in some local farm shops, thanks to a vibrant Instagram account (@craftandpop) but this is still just a hobby. She works from her standard home kitchen after her day job.


Having laid her own wooden floors and decking, making her dining table and countless other DIY projects, Charlie has a vision to build, or at least renovate, her own home. We hope she’s factoring in a suitable Craft and Pop work space, as we have a feeling that aerospace may end up missing an angel.
