Food News SIMPLY WILD IS THERE A RISING STAR IN THE FOREST?
94 Paul Hackett AA inspector with Michael Fowler, Shane Robertson, Megan Lodge and Cheryl Twigger
Local chef Michael Fowler and his team were delighted to receive a third AA rosette last week for his Forest of Dean restaurant Simply Wild in Coleford.
The AA inspectors judged Simply Wild’s food as being “outstanding British food with a French twist”. This is an incredible achievement after just 15 months of opening, normally reserved for those restaurants with at least one Michelin star.
Simply Wild is Michael’s first UK solo venture, having had a wide and varied career in many top restaurants, he most notably achieved “Best Restaurant with Rooms” in England and 3 rosettes whilst head chef at The New Inn at St Owens Cross.
"I couldn’t do it without my team" says Michael, we really do foster an inclusive environment here, everybody contributes, it’s not a one man show.
Michael also wants to thank all of his local suppliers, “we have such amazing food producers here, it’s one of the reasons I wanted to bring my restaurant into the Forest of Dean.”
But the main reason for his cooking is that he genuinely wants people to enjoy his food, and judging by the consistent and outstanding reviews that’s just what he’s done. And the inspectors clearly agree.
