SETTING UP A NAMED FUND

For those able to make a significant gift, establishing a named fund can be an especially rewarding way to create lasting impact during your lifetime, through your will, or both.

It can carry a family name, honour someone who mattered, or support the causes that a donor cares most about, whether that's isolated older people in Kington, young people leaving care in Hereford, or the small charities holding rural communities together across Bromyard, Ross-on-Wye and the Wye Valley.

A TIMELY MOMENT FOR ESTATE PLANNING

Budget changes to Inheritance Tax make this a particularly relevant time to think it through. With thresholds frozen until 2031 and, from 2027, pensions no longer exempt, more Herefordshire estates than ever will be liable for IHT.

Leaving 10% or more of an estate to charity reduces the rate charged on the rest from 40% to 36% - meaning a gift to the county can sit alongside sound financial planning. It's a conversation worth having with a solicitor or financial adviser well before a will needs updating.

To talk in confidence about a gift in your will or setting up a named fund, contact Herefordshire Community Foundation Tel: 01432 272550 Email: philanthropy@herefordshirecf.org

A Herefordshire where local generosity funds local need now and for generations to come.

The Foundation manages investment, administration, legal and compliance on the donor's behalf, so a family's attention stays on the difference being made. Funds set up now can start grant-making immediately or be created through a gift in a will and endowed in perpetuity.
