My work, and process, is an evolution between these two extremes. As a very young artist, depicting what was in front of me was all that mattered. It was important to be able to accurately render the thing I was drawing or painting. But over time, I became less concerned with the details of the subject I was painting, and more interested in how I could transform it into something more interesting, or more beautiful, or more simple.
