THE JOURNAL
WELCOME
As an international design destination, we’re swift to champion the very best at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. This confident approach is evident in the forthcoming pages, which are layered with vibrant colour, pattern, eclectic points of inspiration, as well as playful touches. Each and every product has been selected to add a dash of enduring style, indoors and out. I think the following pages give you a sense that what we’re all looking for is fewer anonymous homes; instead we crave interesting spaces, brimming with personality and character. As we keep saying, it's all about having a mix.
This issue is dedicated to Terence Cole, co-founder and joint CEO of Marcol, who sadly passed away in December. A conceptual and creative thinker, he was always unlocking opportunities and seeing the world from a different perspective. Twenty years ago, with co-owner Mark Steinberg, he recognised the potential of the Design Centre and he was immensely proud of what it has become. Terence will be greatly missed, but he leaves an incredible legacy.
His greatest wish was the continuation of the Design Centre’s growth; it was a business he had always been so passionate about and spent so much time creating in partnership with Mark.
There’s much to learn from legendary editor and tastemaker Diana Vreeland. As she once famously commented, "there’s only one thing in life, and that’s the continual renewal of inspiration.” To this end, this year we will continue our ambitious programme of events and exhibitions, not least WOW!house 2023, back for its second edition in June. Whether you’re an interior designer or an architect working on residential and commercial projects, or a design enthusiast seeking solutions for your own home, there will be plenty to inspire and amaze, learn and discover. We’re uniquely placed to explore compelling stories which highlight the important role that design and decoration plays in our lives, and we cannot wait to share it with you.
