BSW Group joins with Forests With Impact
BSW Group has become a national partner of Forests With Impact, a social enterprise focusing on sustainability and community development.
This programme establishes commercial tree nurseries in prisons, delivering valuable skills in horticulture, nursery management and environmental conservation, in turn supporting how we approach ecological restoration.
The primary goal of Forests With Impact, a community interest company, is to grow seedlings to assist the UK in achieving its tree planting, nature recovery and biodiversity targets, while surplus income made from the nurseries are reinvested into targeted training and community resources for the prison and local community. The programme tackles local employment and skills development. challenges.
“Many leading architects, engineers and clients want to build from wood to decarbonise the built environment and for aesthetic reasons, but prior to Xylotek there was a noticeable lack of suitable expertise in the supply chain. Xylotek filled that gap, and we are pleased that we will be able to preserve that skill and expertise to enhance our offer to customers.” Xylotek was founded in 2018 by directors Charley Brentnall, Oscar Emanuel and Martin Self. Operating internationally, the company’s team comprises experts in architecture and timber design engineering, with extensive experience in timber construction.
In 2022, the company achieved considerable success from various projects, including the ABBA Voyage arena in London.
Hampshire merchant assets auctioned off
The assets of a 142-year-old Hampshire timber merchant have now being auctioned off after the company was voluntarily wound up in May.
Wholesale timber stocks, woodworking machinery and handling equipment, plus forklift trucks and motor vehicles were on the auction list via Proudley Associates on the order of James Stares of Antony Batty & Company, the Liquidator of J F Goodwillie Ltd in late August. Back in May, Portsmouth News reported that staff at the Waterlooville company had been made redundant and that director Alan Goodger had decided to retire. Mr Goodger, who signed the voluntary winding up order on May 22, has been director at the firm since the 1980s and the business had been in his family for about 80 years. The firm was established in 1882.
