The merger request has been filed with the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), which assesses the effects of the deal on competition. The two companies had already started collaborating in 2001 to avoid predatory competition among themselves. The merger is their strategy to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Wet- blue TR1/TR2 20/22mm and up was also unchanged at $0.42 per square foot. Exports totalled $252m in 2015, according to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (MinCIT). In 2022, only $135m were exported, down by 7% compared with 2021 when $145m were exported. Much of the 2022 decline is due to the drop in exports of tanned bovine or equine hides and skins, which dropped by 60%, from $46m in 2021 to $18m in 2022, according to DANE.
