YARA LAuNCHES opTISpRAY

AdBlue solutions provider Yara has recently launched OptiSpray, a product to prevent deposit formation in the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Many road transport vehicles,

agricultural and construction machinery—including cranes—are now equipped with SCR in order to be fully compliant with emission regulations. “The SCR catalyst needs AdBlue or other urea solutions to function,” the company said.

Deposit formation can occur in

SCR systems when engines are idling, running at low average speed and/ or with a high number of stop/starts. Yara explained that a deposit build- up may in turn lead to blockages and ultimately engine failure. “Based on 32.5% urea solution,

OptiSpray conforms to the purity specifications of the ISO 22241 standard for AdBlue,” said the company.

It added that the product’s low

concentration (<0.05%) of surfactant additive, will help prevent deposit build-up. “This reduces maintenance costs and minimises downtime, resulting in more cost effective and efficient operations.” Yara said the product has been tested in various conditions and at low exhaust temperatures, demonstrating a reduction in deposit formation in all tests, and all field test results demonstrated problem free operation.

TADANo REPoRTS SALES DRop

Tadano’s sales revenue for its 2020 fiscal year—the twelve months ended March 31, 2021—stood at ¥186bn ($1.7bn), down 18.4% year-on-year. Gross profit decreased by ¥20.7bn to

¥35.2bn, with the company attributing the drop to changes in product sales composition. The same reason was behind the deterioration of the cost of sales ratio.

Operating income dropped by 18 CRANES TODAY

¥18.1bn, leading to an operating loss of ¥4.2bn; the last time Tadano recorded an operating loss was ten years ago (FY2010). Despite expense reductions, the fall in operating income was caused by the decrease in sales volume and the consolidation of Demag Business. Sales of mobile cranes fell by 27.4%

year-on-year to ¥109.4bn, as demand decreased in all regions. Outside Japan, the revenue generated from the sale of

this crane type amounted to ¥69.8bn, down 32.2%. In the domestic market, sales shrank by 17.2% year-on-year to ¥39.6bn. Sales of truck loader cranes generated ¥19.3bn, ¥2.8bn less than the previous fiscal year. For FY 2021, the company forecasts a 27% increase in mobile crane sales revenue and a slight fall (1.6%) in truck loader cranes sales revenue.
