primarily in the UK and Republic of Ireland, providing workwear, hotel, and restaurant linen services.
Laundry equipment manufacturer and solutions provider Jensen UK has long been present in the UK. As Laurent Maillard, general manager of Jensen UK tells LCNi, the UK market is very important for the company.
According to Maillard, this year the company has already made moves to entrench its presence in the UK and is planning further expansion in years to come. “In the first half of 2025, Jensen- Group further strengthened its position in the UK through several successful projects and significant organisational improvements. A milestone achievement was signing the first UK project that will automate 100% of both the soiled linen sorting process and the dispatch area, as well as integrating a towel picker before the folding machines. This large- scale installation, to be commissioned in a brand-new plant scheduled to start operations in Q2 2026, marks a new benchmark for efficiency and innovation in the UK market.”
Maillard believes the demand for laundry and drycleaning services in the UK will continue to grow and will provide additional opportunities for growth. “We are confident that demand for laundry and textile care services in the UK will continue to grow in the coming years, driven by healthcare, hospitality, and outsourcing trends. However, growth is still accompanied by several challenges, one top one is finding and retaining skilled staff.” According to Maillard, while

automation reduces manual handling, making laundries more productive with fewer people, the importance of skilled personnel is still huge.
In the meantime, as Maillard adds, ever-rising resource costs remains one of the biggest challenges for the company. Of these, high energy and water costs spark the most concerns from Jensen. Forr Kannegiesser, the UK market has always been among its priority markets in Europe. This been recently confirmed by Selwyn Burchhardt, sales manager at Kannegiesser UK, who recently clocked up 40 years’ service with the company who flagged up the good performance of the company in the UK this year. That was also due to the launch of some innovative solutions by the company here in the UK. Burchhardt says: “Kannegiesser UK has had a successful first six months of 2025 developing and implementing solutions with their customers. One of Kannegiesser’s strengths has been to
reduce CO2 emissions with our equipment by delivering systems which can reduce the carbon footprint. We have many examples of turnkey projects that have been delivered over the last few years which have market leading energy consumption. Going forward we expect further demand for our solutions as our customers are looking to reduce their energy consumptions even further.” The UK market has also been of long- term interest for Domus. According to Gemma Colomer Mallol, the company aims to accelerate its expansion in the UK market by more active launches of some of its flagship solutions in the coming months. Mallol says: “Domus has been in the UK market for decades and in recent years we are really strong with our solution DOMUSCONNECT in all our equipment.” She believes the main challenges in the industry are to offer efficient and global solutions, so that business owners can control their full business and optimise resources.
In the meantime, representatives of Christeyns, another major market operator with its chemicals solutions and systems, has also spoken about the importance of the UK market for its business. According to Justin Kerslake, operations director, Christeyns UK, the company continues an active expansion in the UK market.

Kerslake explains: “Christeyns knows the industry must continue to adapt and move forward. This year we have continued to offer solutions to allow laundries to do this, to enhance sustainability in their own operations and to help customers make businesses future ready. With this key focus, there is continued emphasis on reducing water and energy usage and the championing of systems and new technology to help support customers with efficiency and decarbonisation.”
