Q Liebherr Transform Companies are under pressure to
increase volume and performance, widen scopes, or reduce emissions and costs, the list is endless. Liebherr Transform helps to lighten the load through a comprehensive range of structural, electrical, mechanical, ergonomic or digital modifications.

effectiveness in one complete solution. This allows existing equipment to reach its full potential. It is inevitable that equipment becomes
outdated over time but that does not mean it has to be replaced. As the name suggests, existing machines are transformed using affordable complete or partial machine overhauls, retrofits and upgrades. This not only saves the increased capital expenditure of investing in new machines, but also reduces the carbon footprint by avoiding the need for new equipment through the extension of the service life. “In today’s world of major changes
and rapid developments, we (Liebherr’s Maritime division) want to offer our customers solutions that meet the demands of the market. We want to unleash the full potential of existing Liebherr machines to make them fit for today’s and tomorrow’s purposes. Whether it is to meet or exceed environmental requirements, make the machines bigger to serve larger projects or ships, make them faster to achieve higher profitability or make the machines smarter to stay ahead of the business,” said Christoph Doehring, head, Competence Center Service, Liebherr- MCCtec Rostock “This holistic initiative across the entire
and wide range of machines we have supplied to our customers enables them to bring their machines up to the standards of today and tomorrow. “We do not just build the machines, we are a one-stop solution provider

- from engineering to consultancy to training and much more. This is unique and also demonstrates our commitment to presenting solutions in the spirit of responsibility for environmental sustainability, which is central to us and is one of our core values that we stand up for and work towards every day.” A number of retrofits and upgrades are
available which will increase versatility and performance, or ensure compliance with more stringent regulations, opening up a wider spectrum of opportunities. At the same time, operators do not
have to get used to new machines and can continue to benefit from their vast experience with existing equipment. The Liebherr team of expert engineers

to Jubail Commercial Port, where it then needed to be loaded in for transpooling and the empty basket loaded back out on the barge. However, the height difference between the barge and the quay, meant that thorough engineering across disciplines, such as marine engineering and transport, was needed to ensure a smooth, efficient load in operation. “The cable basket needed to be loaded
in for transpooling from the quay, as it could not be done safely from the barge. The spooling then is performed by rotating the cable basket on SPMTs in a circular motion,” said Munawar Khan, project manager, Mammoet. “However, we were presented with a task
to overcome the height difference between the deck of the barge and the quay for load- in & load-out operations. Our experience in handling large and heavy components - often weighing in excess of 1,000t - proved critical in doing this effectively.”
