Fleet preview Audi Q6 E-Tron
Audi has revealed its EV alternative to the Q5, which shares the same PPE platform as the incoming Porsche Macan EV, Martyn Collins has all the details.
Exterior:
At 4,771mm long, and positioned between the Q4 E-Tron and the Q8 E-Tron, Audi describe the new Q6 E-Tron as a premium mid-size model. Outside, the styling looks like a stretched Q4 E-Tron from a distance. There are the same short overhangs (thanks to the PPE platform), and family grille in a louvred pattern – with large air intakes alongside. The same blistered arches at the sides (although the lower detailing is new), and the same high-set light bar at the back. The biggest design change must be the split headlight units at the front – top half are the Matrix LED daytime running lights, which like the Q4 can be customised, with the lower part in the front airdam being the main headlights. A choice of 18 to 21in alloy wheels will be offered.
Interior:
If the exterior is too similar to other Audi SUV models, the interior is something very different to what we’ve seen before. Made up of screens, an 11.9in driver’s display sits under the same glass as a massive 14.5in infotainment screen. If you want more screen, Audi is also offering a 10.9in passenger display. With all these screens, physical switchgear is made up of the gear selector, buttons for the ‘Drive Select’ system, volume knob for the infotainment, hazard lights and the multi-function steering wheel. Rear space also looks reasonable, and there’s the practicality of a 526-litre boot.
