Volkswagen trusts in collaboration
This issue of What Van? is bursting at the seams with drive reviews of some of the leading models coming to market in the UK’s light commercial vehicle sector.
Our cover story (page 30) turns the spotlight on a crucial new van for Volkswagen – the seventh- generation of its best seller, the Transporter. As the most important vehicle to emerge from Volkswagen’s product-sharing agreement with Ford, the Transporter is built on the same platform as the Transit Custom.
Diesel and electric versions are now on sale in the UK, and it is the latter, the e-Transporter, we review here.
A plug-in hybrid derivative will join the Transporter line-up next year, but to get a good idea of what to expect, turn to page 34 for a review of the van it is based upon, the Ford Transit Custom PHEV, which is already on sale in the UK.
We also review the diesel variant of our reigning Van of the Year, the Renault Master, in right-hand drive mode (page 38) and put the new Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck through its paces (page 40).
Sticking to the four-wheel drive theme, we give the the Grenadier Commercial, a thorough workout (page 44).
In our four-page Road Test, starting on page 46, we run the rule over the Peugeot e-Partner, which with its Stellantis stablemate, Citroen’s e-Berlingo, vies to be the UK’s top-selling electric compact van.
Aside from the drive reviews, there are plenty of features to enjoy within these pages. We will return with the May/June issue containing the highlights from the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show.
