City of London Police Federation welcomes first ever female Executive Officer in almost 100 years


Suzanne Ferris’s journey through her career in law enforcement and her dedication to representing her fellow officers within the Police Federation is both impressive and inspiring. Suzanne joined Essex


Police in 1997 and became a detective on child protection in 2001. She transferred to City of London Police as a detective constable in 2005 and, despite initially planning to spend only a couple of years with the City, Suzanne has dedicated 18 years to the force, showcasing her passion for her work and the organisation. She is still thriving in the force as a


detective chief inspector and has spent the majority of this time in the economic

crime arena. Suzanne also spent four years in its Professional Standards Department (PSD) and worked closely with the City of London Police Federation. Suzanne’s motivation to become a

Federation representative stemmed from her experience in the PSD, where she recognised the importance of having someone who supports and advocates for fellow officers. She is proud to be the first ever female


executive at the City of London Police Federation, having been elected as its secretary in May this year. “We are really fortunate to have a relatively diverse group of Federation reps in the City of London Police now, but of course we can always do better, and we will be actively encouraging new reps to stand in the future,” she explained.


When asked about the
