FUTURARC INTERVIEW
SHADING DEVICE They protect the vulnerable façade from high exposure to solar radiation, resulting in reduction of cooling requirement and glare control.
PERMEABLE DRIVEWAY Hydromedia driveway for enhanced stormwater run-off and reduction of heat island effect.
TURBINE VENTILATOR Turbine extracts hot air from the tripple stack space.
COURTYARD Cut-outs in the roof let daylight penetrate into deep floor plans and allow them to be naturally daylit.
INSULATED ROOF Use of insulation reduces cooling loads which in turn results in reduction of overall BEI (Building Energy Index).
ROOFTOP PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS Photovoltaic to provide up to 41.62 kWp or 10.6% of total energy consumption of the facility per annum.
DYNAMIC EARTH CONTACT Submerged buildings in earth require lesser electricity to cool them.
SELF-SHADING
Cantilevers allow most parts of the building to be in shade throughout the day.
OPENABLE FACADE for Mixed Mode Ventilation.
2
BIO-SWALE to remove silt and pollution out of surface run-off water.
RAINWATER HARVESTING Provides treated and filtered rainwater to provide up to 69% of total water requirement of the facility.
GREY WATER RECYCLING Waste water collected from the facility generates up to 40,788 m³/yr for landscape irrigation.
HIGH PERFORMANCE GLAZING
Reduces heat transfer and improves building OTTV.
GREEN CONCRETE All concrete used contains a minimum 20% flyash and other recycled materials.
are mechanically cooled by VRF system. Paints, adhesives and sealants used in this building have been selected carefully to control emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and formaldehyde to ensure occupant health.
SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPE STRATEGY With an expansive site area, the EPIC is surrounded by acres of greenfield and oil palm plantation. Minimum impact and maximum biodiversity are met by limiting all site disturbances to within 12 metres beyond the building perimeters and 3 metres away from walkway and utilities. Over 15,000 square metres of the site are treated as green landscape with more than 400 native trees reintroduced to the location. Surface run-off is filtered through a bioswale at the base of the site to ensure treatment prior to entering the surrounding natural water system. The bioswale consists of river sand, geotextile and drains cells.
