SHAME SHAME
A taxi driver who stalked a terrified woman in his cab has had his licence revoked. According to the Paisley Daily Ex- press, members of Renfrewshire Coun- cil’s Regulatory Functions Board have suspended Lovemore Chirwa’s licence following a police report and a complaint about his benaviour.
The deluded 41-year- old driver had remained on the road, despite being found guilty in court of hounding terrified Primrose Masunda, 27, out of the country.
RENFREW STALKER DRIVER HAS LICENCE REVOKED Lovemore Chirwa
The Zimbabwean subjected her to a horrifying three-year campaign of harass- ment, including fol- lowing her in his car and bombarding her with letters, phone calls and texts. He even offered to ‘buy’ her from her parents after they met at Paisley’s Sev- enth-Day Adventist Church.
Chirwa walked free from court in July, but Renfrewshire Council chiefs have now forced him off the job after launching a probe into his behav- iour.
A spokesman for the local authority said
last night: “Having considered a police report and a com- plaint from a member of the public, council- lors on the Reg- ulatory Functions Board suspended Mr
HUDDERSFIELD TAXI DRIVER JAILED FOR TRANSPORTING DRUGS
A taxi driver caught transporting drugs in his car has been jailed for 21 months. Leeds Crown Court heard Anthony Pat- rick Davis was short of money before Christmas last year and would have received some cash for acting as a couri- er.
The prosecution said police officers were in the Birkby area when they passed Davis returning to his taxi. Because he looked shocked to see the officers they decided to go back to investigate. When his vehicle were searched, a black pepper pot contain- ing 48 individual drug wraps was found. They were found to be 17 of heroin with a

street value of £90 and 31 of crack cocaine worth around £390.
The defence told the court that his client realised he had made a poor decision to act as a temporary courier. He had con- sulted the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and discussed bankruptcy but there was a charge for doing that which he could not afford. References showed he was a valued member of his com- munity, that his

actions were com- pletely out of character and a jail sentence would impact greatly on his daughter. According to the Huddersfield Exam- iner, Davis, 60, from Huddersfield, admit- ted possession with intent to supply hero- in and crack cocaine. Recorder Paul Miller told him there had to be an immediate jail term.
“The inescapable fact is that late last year you chose to involve yourself in the carriage of Class A drugs for financial gain,” he said.
“Addiction to class A drugs is the scourge of our time and a tragedy for thou- sands of mainly young people.”
Chirwa’s private hire car licence and pri- vate hire car driver’s licence with immedi- ate effect.”
Between August 2011 and June last year, Chirwa texted and
called Ms Masunda to ‘declare his love’ before offering money to buy her from her parents. When she didn’t return his calls, he began following her and contacting her mum, uncle and their pastor, sending flowers and waiting outside her house. He also posted pic- tures of her on social media with the cap- tions ‘my future wife’ and ‘the gift of my life’.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard how Chirwa believed God had destined for him to be with Ms Masunda. She repeatedly spurned his ad-
vances, but it took six calls to police before he was arrested and she eventually left Scotland to escape him. Sheriff Colin Petti- grew told Chirwa it was only his “lack of violence” that spared him a jail sentence. He added: “Despite repeated rebuffs by Miss Masunda, you continued to pursue her. This was stalk- ing.” Sheriff Pettigrew also imposed a non- harassment order on Chirwa, banning con- tact or attempted contact with the vic- tim or her family for two years.
GLASGOW DRIVER REMOVED BANNED AFTER OFFERING FREE FARE FOR SEX
A taxi driver has been banned after offering a female passenger discounted fares in exchange for sex and threatening another. Rizwan Ziarab has already been con- victed by the courts of threatening and abusive behaviour in relation to the inci- dents and has now been taken off the road after police said he posed a serious threat to public safe- ty.
The Evening Times reports that licensing chiefs in Glasgow heard how in Janu- ary 2014 he told a female passenger who claimed not to have the full £20 for the fare that she could only pay half if she performed a sex act.
He also offered to waive the full fare if the passenger had full sex with him. The passenger refused the offer and later notified the police. On another occasion he is accused of threatening and abu- sive behaviour towards female pas- sengers he was taking between Glas- gow city centre and Govan, having demanded an addi- tional £20 on top of the previously arrang-ed fee.
It comes weeks after it emerged a Glas- gow black taxi driver had allegedly offered to waive the fares of female passengers if they urinated in the back of the cab. In another case, a private hire driver
was also removed from the roads after cannabis with a street value of almost £150,000 was found in his car.
Mr Dolan had been stopped by Lan- cashire Police near Preston when he was believed to be travel- ling from Merseyside to Glasgow on the M6 in June 2014. Police were acting on intelligence passed on to them.
They discovered 30kg of the class B drug split into around 300 solid blocks. He was given a two-year suspended sentence and given 200 hours community service. Police Scotland said that the 31-year-old posed a serious threat to public safety.
