Shaun Marnell, Director of Car n Cab Care explains why 2021 was his best year yet for Settle to Buy and new vehicle sales but it is

going to be extremely difficult to bag a bargain in 2022. There is a shortage of new hybrid and derv vehicles due to a world-wide micro-chip shortage. This has meant that vehicle manufacturers have clawed back the normal discounts offered to both fleet buyers and our trade, which has affected sales, whereas newer full electric vehicles tend not to have this micro-chip fitted. We therefore predict that despite inflated high prices, demand for used cars will continue until at least August 2022. The increase in both the buying and running costs of trade vehicles means settle companies will no longer be able to offer cars to rent for under £120 pw; and the days of £170 pw including third party insurance are also numbered as euro 6 policy hits the UK. Furthermore, settle companies are also going to struggle to offer full electric vehicles at competitive rates. Therefore, those drivers wanting to reap the benefits of moving to full electric should really look to buy now and so take advantage of both Government and council grants currently available; especially as we know these grants will not be available indefinitely. We at Car n Cab pre ordered a large number of units and so have stock ready for immediate delivery. Many vehicles are still on offer with big discounts, minimum deposits and low finance rates. Furthermore, we can also help drivers who have only rented in the past and are struggling to get insurance in their own name.

OUR CURRENT STOCK:

VW Group: They have removed ALL taxi discounts from all brands: VW, Skoda, Seat and Audi, but we have five plug-in hybrids in stock which are the last available with up to £7,000 off RRP. With the lack of sales plus increasing production costs we do not see our usual discount of 28% off RRP returning for some time.

KIA: They have also increased prices even though car sales have been fantastic this year. Stock of hybrid 21 and 22 year are running out so dealerships have put up the prices of used vehicles until the more expensive new shape Niro is available. We have a number of current shape Niro’s in stock and some on order, which are the last available at the discounted price. We can offer ALL our Kia Niro’s with an option to change privacy glass to standard tint.

JANUARY 2022

N.B. Any new vehicles ordered now will be £1,200 more inc vat with a sixteen week wait.

HYUNDAI IONIQ: This is our best-selling hybrid and is a very reliable car. We have 20 vehicles in a variety of colours in stock ready for immediate delivery.

MG5 & MG ZS: This has been our biggest selling full EV. MG has just pulled all taxi discounts but we have fourteen vehicles ready for immediate delivery. These were ordered before the Government reduced the EV grant support so still have up to £7,500 off RRP and will be the last available at these discounted rates.

FORD PLUG IN TRANSIT: This is a fantastic vehicle for our trade– extremely fuel efficient, only 70 CO2

and is a self-

charging hybrid powered by an electric motor therefore no-battery range issues. It really can work all day and night, then charge back up using a standard outside plug socket or directly charge 100% by using the petrol engine whilst you drive. This full electric driven vehicle is perfect for around town driving: 59mpg for a minibus; 50mpg combined; and 34.8 mpg on the motorway on full petrol. The actual savings of fuel tends to be combined, £15 saved for every £25 spent on derv in comparison. We also convert this vehicle into a rank taxi –all options can be dual sided for a loading area. View available options on YouTube – search E-Cabbi. Options: 1. E-Vision - is an external view of a taxi with low level top hat and meter and decals just a normal 8 seater minibus inside From £41,500

2. E-Pass - UK’s first M1 screened minibus with an intercom From £43,500

3. E-Cab - Both of the above options added together From £44,500

4. E-Cabbi - Full Hackney spec with buggy restraints and loading area instead of wheel chair adapted. From £48,000 – which is still £12,000 cheaper than a WAV hackney taxi

If you are still unsure, give Car n Cab Care a call and arrange to come and try an EV before you buy. There really has never been a better time to invest in your future!
