CCTV/DASH CAMS: NEW PARTNERS

At Safe Systems CCTV Ltd, we continue to stay leaps and bounds ahead of the competition, working with partners, listening to

suggestions from all sources including drivers, local authorities, installers and vehicle dealerships; in fact, we listen to everyone in order to make sure we make changes and upgrades to maintain our status of being the best on the market at what we do.

WHAT CHANGES HAVE WE MADE?

There are quite a few listed below with an explanation of the reasons for the changes. Storage:

We had experienced rare occasions where an RTA had occurred, where the standard hard drive “skipped” creating a “bad sector”. The result was that travel to and from the scene skipped the actual incident, although it was rare, we simply had to address this. So, now all systems installed within the last year and moving forward, are all on a 1TB “solid state drive,” still providing on average a 30 day recording cycle, but removing the risk of bad sectors or skipping.

Camera lenses:

New lenses with AHD (Advanced High Definition) chip- sets provide a much clearer image; removing the night vision from external facing cameras. This has reduced the glare from external lights e.g. headlights/street lamps.

Audio Switches:

One of the main complaints we got was that a hole had to be made to install the audio switches and over- ride switch, but they were a mandatory requirement, so we had little to no choice.

After six years trying to develop a switch that would perform the same way, with the same functionality, but simply stick to any surface. We have found them, and now use those for all installations, so no more holes.

This does not apply to those councils where timed audio is required such as TfL, Telford and Southampton. For Southampton, the timed audio switch is now built into the new LED panel, but for TfL and Telford, I’m afraid we must still use the small silver activation buttons.

LED panel:

For those where the control unit is hidden, and for those that cannot have the monitor installed, which includes Edinburgh, TfL and a small minority of others, but no longer includes Southampton, it was difficult to see the LED panel on the control box to verify correct

operation of the system. As a result, we have incorporated a small windscreen mounted LED panel which shows everything that the main box shows, but also includes the remote-control receiver, and the audio switch (as above, for Southampton only.) It also includes the ability to reactivate the monitor for short periods when required - another recent change.

Monitor:

Since there was some confusion about how the monitor is used from some local authorities, including Rotherham, Edinburgh, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire, where they were concerned that drivers “could” drive around with the monitor active at all times, we have made a change now so that the monitor only stays on for a preset short time, and then goes into “dark mode” showing a blank screen.

This can be reactivated when needed by simply pressing the red button on the LED display.

But then we realised that this could go further, so we changed it again, for those who wish to have this feature, we can connect the audio trigger switches in such a way, that when the audio is active, the monitor switches to full screen internal view, going back to dark mode when the audio is switched back off.

For those with a rear-view camera added, we can do the same with this too, triggering full screen rear view when reversing.

It is hoped that by making this change, we have removed the concern from those in the minority, and they will now allow the monitor to be installed.

Online booking platform: https://portal.safesystemscctv.co.uk/

We have developed an interactive booking platform, fully secure and fully automated, creating accounts for drivers, engineers and council officers. You simply select your local authority, make your booking and make payment, all parties are then kept fully updated with any changes to the booking, including uploading of certificates and images once installed.

Of course, you can still call us any time for support, this is to allow more flexibility for the majority.

National standard:

We have worked with several local authorities and regulators from all around the UK, including Guildford, Peterborough, Mid Sussex, Cambridge (city and south), the Welsh Government, Telford, York and many more to help them in developing a national standard to
