Mi TAXI SERVICE: A TRIP CUSTOMER LOYALTY


So apart from a solid background of hard graft, technological advancements and good staff relations, how does Mi Taxis maintain customer loyalty?


John explains: “We have a very high percentage of account bookings with both local and national companies as well as thousands of local customers.


“Mi Taxis is the longest established and largest taxi company in our area so the majority of our customer have used our services for many years. We provide a reliable, efficient and extremely professional service which has been rewarded by an excellent local reputation.


“We also believe in supporting our community; our company does a lot of local charity work; we have sponsored the local youth foot- ball team for many years; and are also the official community partner for Nuneaton Borough FC.


“We do everything we possibly can to cater for every passenger’s individual requirement and offer a range of services including: passenger assistants, female drivers and a large range of wheelchair accessible vehicles.


“We also use all social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to advertise and interact with our customers and regularly offer promo codes that our customers can use to get discount on trips booked on our app. We encourage our customers to download our app and have a QR code which you just scan with your phone to make it simple - the council have even allowed us to put the QR on the doors of all our vehicles.”

“We have high standards; I personally know all my drivers. They are all DBS checked, trained by the company and have customer service qualifications. Both office staff and drivers must wear company branded clothing supplied by the firm and drivers must always wear a shirt and tie.

We still have a mixture of owner/drivers, vehicles rented to drivers and company cars. All our vehicles are clean, company branded and regularly mechanically checked; they are all are fitted with credit card machines and taximeters and some have CCTV installed”.

However, Mi Taxis still successfully use some old school ideas to promote their business. John invests heavily in business cards and leaflets as well as branded clocks, cigarette bins, and individual metal signs at every pub, club and restaurant in the area. He regularly offers his driver’s incentives to hand branded key rings and pens to all their passengers. The com- pany also has freephones in all the local supermarkets and John himself happily regularly drives round the town in a branded Smart car which always gets a lot of attention.


COVID


Like all our trade Mi Taxis business was devasted by the pandemic. John told PHTM: “It was awful! We still had our contracts but there was little hospitality work and we lost many drivers who took other jobs and sadly some of our most loyal elderly drivers were too scared to work and chose to retire. I was so bad that I even started driving again – on night
