PASSENGERS REFUSE TO PAY £8 FARE
A taxi driver was savagely stabbed and punched in a row over a fare. Driver Tahir Imran, 38, was working the night shift on Tues- day July 21, when he was viciously set upon by passengers as he drove through Digbeth. According to the Birmingham Mail, the attack hap- pened just minutes after he picked up two men from Ravenshurst Street at 2am. The pair, who were travelling to Lozells, were asked to pay the £8 fare upfront - they refused and instead pulled out a knife. Tahir, a dad-of-five, was stabbed in the

left shoulder and punched in the face before the thugs ran from the scene of the attack on Brad-
ford Street. His brother-in-law Habib Rizwan, who had been on the phone to Tahir at the time of the attack, alerted the police who soon flooded the scene. The taxi driver, who works for Acocks Green-based 247 Cars, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he remains. His condi- tion is not thought to be life-threaten- ing but his family have been unable to visit him owing to coronavirus restric- tions. West Midlands Police confirmed they were aware of the incident and were awaiting a statement.
POLICE HUNTING MAN AFTER BIRMINGHAM DRIVER ASSAULT
Police are hunting Adam Clancy in con- nection with an assault on a taxi driver in Birming- ham. The attack, around 2pm on June 30 in Druids Heath, saw the 52-year-old driv- er repeatedly pun- ched in the face, causing swelling and leading to him need- ing hospital treat- ment. The Bromsgrove Standard reports that Clancy, who was identified as the suspect after a social media appeal, is from Stirchley but also has links to Bromsgrove and Acocks Green, as

TAXI DRIVER AND POLICE OFFICER ATTACKED IN WALCOT, LINCS
A taxi driver and police officer were assaulted on the night of 22 July by a man and woman in their 20s. The taxi driver had picked up the couple after a booking but was assaulted by a man during the jour- ney. Police arrived and arrested the man but during the process an officer
was hit in the head and kicked in the leg by the female pas- senger. In the police van she continuously spat on the way to the station. The man was arrest- ed on suspicion of common assault and section 5 public order. The woman was arrested on sus- picion of assaulting an emergency work-
er and criminal dam- age. Supt Adrian Burt said: “Fortunately, the taxi driver and the police officer were not seriously injured during this incident and both remained working their shifts, however we will simply not tolerate behaviour of this kind on our streets.”
BRUTAL RACIST ATTACK ON COATBRIDGE TAXI DRIVER
An investigation has been launched after a Coatbridge taxi driver was brutally attacked and racial- ly abused by his passenger. The cabbie, 55, was left with serious injuries to his head and hand following the incident on Viewfield Road at its junction with Dun- nachie Drive, Coat- bridge, at around 2.50am on Sunday 12 July. Two men in their 20s were in the taxi
and being dropped off on Viewfield Road where a third was waiting. One of the men got out of the car to greet the third man while the other turned on the taxi driver and pro- ceeded to racially abuse and assault him. The attacker and his two associates then ran away in the direction of Kirk- wood Sports Barn. The cabbie was taken to Monklands Hospital and re-
leased following treatment DC Craig McLean of Coatbridge CID said: “This was des- picable behaviour which will not be tolerated.
