WOMEN IN THE TRADE
Despite setbacks, Tracey has always bounced back, fuelled by her passion for the trade and the support of the driver community. She takes pride in her loyalty, honesty and resilience, qualities that have defined her career.
The evolution of the taxi industry
Over the past 30 years, Tracey has witnessed the industry’s transformation, particularly through technology. While the core values of the trade remain unchanged, innovations such as apps, credit card systems and electric taxis have opened new opportunities for drivers. These advancements have also improved office operations, enabling faster payments and enhanced customer service.
Looking ahead, she believes sustainability will play a major role in shaping the future of the taxi industry. She is committed to building an even stronger driver community and providing additional support and benefits to those within it.
Celebrating 30 years
To celebrate her 30-year history, black taxi manu- facturers, LEVC, have honoured Tracey by making a film about her role, her memories, her experiences and the legacy she has built. Three episodes were made; first Tracey was filmed at Sherbet HQ with colleagues expressing their appreciation: “I could not do my job without Tracey”, “Tracey knows how to treat drivers” and “Tracey is a star” were just some of the accolades. The episode focuses on the challenges female drivers face but also why they love their jobs.
In the next episode Tracey was seen at LEVC’s Coventry factory, a long desired wish of Tracey’s to see the place where it all starts! Finally, part three tracked Tracey celebrating International Women’s Day at the Women in Taxi event in Liverpool, hosted by iCabbi, sponsored by Take Me and CMAC, with supporting donations from Sherbet, Addison Lee and Belfast & Newtonabbey Airport Transfers. When asked by the panellist host what was the secret of success for Tracey she humbly answered: “Active listening”. Tracey believes every driver deserves to be listened to and heard so that they feel validated and then assistance can be given.

Above all, she stresses the importance of teamwork.
