SHOW FEATURE

Suppliers are keen to show they are still open for business and the various issues and regulatory changes we were all grappling with haven’t gone away. However, we will always place safety as our number one concern and will react accordingly.

such as larger spaces between stands for social distancing, temperature checks before entry, staggered visiting times, hand sanitisers, PPE equipment, huge increase in cleaning regime (including fogging), amended stand designs, pre-packaged food and many other components to support social distancing, personal protection, contactless everything and a safe sterile environment for business to be conducted in.

Are you encouraging people to make arrangements to attend and/or exhibit?

What I’d say here is that actually we are the ones being encouraged by our exhibitors and visitors to run RWM 2020 as planned. Our recent survey results showed over 80% of visitors weren’t put off attending and we are hearing every day that there is a need for business to start again.

How has the coronavirus situation affected the planning and preparation of the show?

It's been a challenging time for us as it has for all of your readers. The biggest difficulties have been the mixed messages and the lack of clarity around government guidelines. We are set and ready to deliver a safe RWM but still don’t know if that will be allowed.

However, we have been using the time to speak to as much of the industry as possible. As we evolve RWM, we want to reference and recognise its heritage whilst accurately reflecting the modern world. This of course is not possible without listening to key stakeholders across the sector. As part of this we’ve recently established a strategic advisory group of leading industry professionals to help us shape the content of the event, we’ve invited past visitors of RWM to

share their thoughts on the event via an online survey, and we’re in the process of launching a new membership group enabling people to have their say in RWM going forwards.

As the new owners of RWM, ROAR B2B bring a wealth of experience in running large scale events. Our aim is to provide conference quality content free of charge to our visitors, alongside a leading exhibition allowing the sector to showcase the latest technologies and innovations. Content themes for RWM 2020, are likely to include discussions around upcoming legislations, debates around decarbonising the industry, talks around how to tackle waste crime and case studies covering the latest equipment and processes.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the UK waste and recycling industry for their work during these difficult times; your role as key workers providing a vital service is crucial to everyone and we are all incredibly grateful.

Stay safe and we hope to see you at RWM 2020 later this year.
