RWM 2020: Coronavirus update


WITH the coronavirus putting the country in lockdown, many industry events, expos and shows have been postponed until much later in the year or cancelled for this year entirely.


However, many in the waste and recycling industry are currently asking whether this includes the sector’s biggest annual event – RWM 2020.


We caught up with Bradley Maule-ffinch, the group managing director of new owners Roar B2B (working in partnership with CIWM) after they purchased the show from Prysm Group at the end of 2019.


Hello Bradley. Let’s start with the $6million question: Is the show still going ahead in light of the lockdown?


This is the most regular question we are being asked now: is RWM going ahead in September? The simple answer to this is that we are monitoring the situation closely, and at present we are continuing planning for an event in September.


However, our number one focus is ensuring our visitors, exhibitors and partners are safe. So, we have arranged alternative dates for the exhibition if it becomes necessary to move from September


What extra measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of exhibitors and visitors?


As you can imagine, we are working very closely with the venue and a number of different stakeholders to ensure that attending RWM will be safe. We are also learning a lot from the successful running of tradeshows in other countries who are further along with the reduction of lockdown.


Right now our plans include a wide variety of different measures including things
