Book now for early bird prices to Conference and Expo 2022
THIS summer sees the return of CILIP’s flagship event as an in-person event for the first time since pan- demic regulations forced conference to switch to digital platforms. The Conference and Expo will take place in Liverpool on 7 and 8 July, and will explore themes of renewal. It is a chance for delegates to be part of the conversa- tions that are shaping the profession and helping it move forward to a new era. CILIP Chief Executive Nick Poole said: “There are two meanings to the word ‘renewal’. One is ‘to resume something after an interruption’. The other is ‘to update or
amend something to ensure its ongoing validity’. Neither could be more relevant to the CILIP community as we look ahead to life after the disruption of the past two years.” He called on the CILIP Community to “come together and pick up where we left off –to resume the work of ‘chang- ing lives through quality information, services and expertise’. “There is an opportunity to come together to tell a new story of the currency and relevance of our member’s skills in a post-truth, post-pandemic world that is facing some tremendous challenges.”
The notion of renewal will be explored in a variety of sessions and through keynote speeches – including from Sayf Al Ashqar, Library Director at the University of Mosul, which re-opened earlier this year after being destroyed by ISIS fighters (read an interview with Sayf on p. 25, with more details about this year’s programme on p. 27). Nick describes this year’s conference and Expo as ”an opportunity to reunite, to regroup, to draw on our long-standing strengths and to think differently about the future. A shared moment of renewal.” Book your Early Bird place at
