Congratulations to Tracy Buss of Liberty Elementary for receiving the Educator of the Year Award during the 3rd annual Educator of the Year Ceremony for CA District 52! Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez recognized six exceptional educators throughout Chino Valley, Ontario, Pomona, Montclair and Fontana for their outstanding service to students and their community.

With over 30 years of experience as an educator, Ms. Buss has made a significant impact throughout the school district by coordinating the District 's Science Fair and Odyssey of the Mind program. She also leads Liberty's Parent Academies and Pennies for Patients program while serving as a Grade Level Chair, teacher mentor, PFA Executive Board Member, District Technology Committee Member, and High School Drama Club Member. Liberty's principal, Deborah Hutchinson, shared that no teacher exemplifies excellence more than Tracy Buss. Thank you Ms. Buss for being such a positive impact in our district!

ew Board President ducation Appoints

During the December 12, 2019 Board of Education meeting, the Chino Valley Unified School District appointed new officers for 2020: Mr. Joe Schaffer, President; Ms. Christina Gagnier, Vice President; Ms. Irene Hernandez-Blair, Clerk; Mr. Andrew Cruz, Member; Mr. James Na, Member.

Mr. Schaffer first joined the CVUSD Board of Education in 2018 after

serving as a long-time parent volunteer. In addition to serving as the Board's President, Mr. Schaffer serves as the liaison to the city of Chino Hills, representative to the County Committee on School District Organization, representative to the Chino Hills Parks and Recreation Commission, representative to the Joint Meeting with the City of Chino Hills, and representative to the Baldy View Regional Occupational Program Commission. Congratulations and thank you to all Board members for supporting the amazing students and staff of Chino Valley USD!

E.J. Marshall's Preschool Program Earns

Qualit y Star t Award It 's never too early to get students off on the right foot! Quality Start San Bernardino County (QSSB) and the Child Resource Center recently recognized E.J. Marshall's Preschool Readiness Educational Partnership (P.R.E.P) program for its commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education to CVUSD families! Considerations for the award included teacher-to-child ratios, learning activities, environment, health and child development, and staff training and education. Be sure to give Ms. Mayra and Ms. Maggie a high-five when you see them next!
